Chris Stephenson

Chris is a Costs Lawyer with over a decade of experience in legal costs. He has worked as both the receiving and paying party, dealing with cases from your low value fixed costs case, all the way to Court of Appeal & Supreme Court. He focuses on higher value and more complex cases especially clinical negligence disputes and commercial matters, in addition to also being a specialist in both pre & post LASPO ATE premium disputes.

As well as being a practised drafter and negotiator, he is also an experienced advocate who appears frequently in County Courts and the Senior Courts Costs Office.

In addition to his fee earning work, Chris has worked as a tutor with the Association of Costs Lawyers, in addition to being a Graduate of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives and an Accredited Costs Lawyer, available to provide CPD credited training in costs matters. Chris has provided numerous articles on costs issues and was a leading fee earner in the recent Court of Appeal decisions of Peterborough & Stamford Hospitals NHS Trust v McMenemy & Ors [2017] EWCA Civ 1941 & West -v- Stockport NHS Foundation Trust [2019] EWCA Civ 1220.
